DURHAM, N.C. – Freshman Mason Plumlee is out indefinitely after suffering a fractured left wrist on Wednesday in practice. The fracture will not require surgery to repair and he will be evaluated by the Duke medical staff on a weekly basis.

“Mason took a hard fall in practice on Wednesday that resulted in the wrist injury,” head coach Mike Krzyzewski said. “It was an unfortunate play but we are confident that he will make a full recovery. Mason is going to be a very good player for us and we look forward to him getting healthy and returning to the court.”

Plumlee, a 2009 McDonald’s All-America, averaged 12.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 blocks per game in exhibition wins over Pfeiffer and Findlay.

Duke opens the regular season on Friday, Nov. 13 at 7:00 p.m. against UNC Greensboro at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Fox Sports South will televise the contest with Bob Rathbun and Mike Gminski calling the game.
