Coach Cutcliffe’s Weekly Press Conference

By Terry Rains on October 25, 2011

BDN spoke with Ross Cockrell and has video interviews with Juwan Thompson and Sean Renfree to get a fresh perspective on how Duke Football will respond after last week’s heartbreaking loss to Wake Forest, particularly with a very difficult opponent in Virginia Tech coming to Wallace Wade this weekend.

Duke Cornerback Ross Cockrell summarized the season succinctly, stating “explosive plays have been killing us.” Specifically, he referenced Wake’s 66-yd TD pass in the 4th and called it “heart-breaking” moment for the team. When asked about his own efforts on that play, he openly accepted responsibility for over-running Givens around the 15-yard line, which allowed the talented receiver to stop and push by Cockrell for the score. While Ross was clearly upset about that play, we must reiterate that the pass defense was very solid this game, allowing only a single first down in the 2nd half.

Click play below to hear more on the “tale of two halves” as well as thoughts on Virginia Tech from Duke QB Sean Renfree and RB Juwan Thompson.
