Just about everybody in high school football is either concluding their regular seasons and heading into the playoffs, or the post-season has actually begun. A number of future Blue Devils were fortunate enough to have their high school teams advance to the playoffs in their respective leagues. As usual, BDN brings you the results and the scoop on all of it.
Starting close to home in North Carolina, Statesville and CB Breon Borders advanced to the third round of the playoffs by rallying to a 41-29 victory over Asheville Ervin. However, things will get a lot tougher next week as the 12-1 Greyhounds travel to Belmont to face top-seeded South Point. Borders told BDN, “LOCKDOWN! I myself could’ve done better as always, but had about 5 tackles and 2 pass deflections – a pretty good game. On to the 3rd round!”
Undefeated Jacksonville Northside advanced in the 2-AA playoffs with a 41-28 win over Bethel North Pitt . Here is a feature article on Northside’s TD catching machine and Blue Devil target (class of 2014) Josh Cabrera.
Over in Charlotte, CB Bryon Fields and Providence Day
