The Opening Tip

• Duke (14-2, 2-2) faces Louisville (15-2, 3-1) Saturday, Jan. 17 in its third ACC road contest over a four-game stretch. Tipoff is set for 12:00 p.m. with Dave O’Brien (play-by-play), Dick Vitale (analyst) and Doris Burke (sideline) calling the action for ESPN.

• The Blue Devils enter the game ranked No. 4 in the AP Poll and the USA Today Coaches Poll. Duke is 65-14 when ranked No. 4 in the AP Poll.

• Louisville is ranked No. 6 in the AP Poll and No. 7 in the Coaches Poll. Duke is 15-9 all-time against the No. 6 team in the AP Poll.

• The Blue Devils have dropped two straight ACC contests for the first time since the 2008-09 season. Duke has not lost three straight league games since the 2006-07 campaign.

• Freshman Jahlil Okafor leads the ACC in scoring (18.9 ppg.), field goal percentage (.668) and offensive rebounds (4.1 orpg.), while also ranking third in rebounds (9.4 rpg.) and seventh in defensive rebounds (5.3 drpg.).

Last Time Out

• Duke fell to Miami, 90-74, Tuesday at Cameron Indoor Stadium to snap a 41-game home win streak.

• Jahlil Okafor recorded his fifth double-double of the year with 15 points and 15 rebounds, while Amile Jefferson added 14 points and 12 rebounds. The post tandem combined for 14 of Duke’s 17 offensive rebounds in the loss.

• Quinn Cook knocked down four three-point field goals and finished with 18 points, while Rasheed Sulaimon (14) also scored in double figures.

• Miami shot 51.7 percent from the field, including 66.7 percent (18-of-27) in the second half of play. The Hurricanes were also 10-of-20 from three-point range in the contest.

• Duke has lost back-to-back games in a season three times since the start of the 2009-10 season and is 26-3 following a loss during that span.

• Duke has suffered losing streaks of three games or more just four times over the past 20 seasons. The Blue Devils had a pair of four-game skids during the 2006-07 season, as well as a four-game streak and a three-game slide in 1995-96.

• Freshmen Tyus Jones, Jahlil Okafor and Justise Winslow have started all 16 games for the Blue Devils. Mike Krzyzewski has started three or more freshmen in a game 51 times at Duke, including 27 times during the 1982-83 season. The trio combines to average 40.2 points, 17.6 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game.

• Jahlil Okafor has scored 20 or more points in seven of the past 11 games and is averaging 20.4 points on 70.2 percent (87-of-124) shooting from the field in that span.

• Quinn Cook is averaging a career-high 14.8 points per game while also posting career bests in field goal percentage (.474), three-point field goals (2.7 3pg.), three-point percentage (.406) and free throw percentage (.970). He has scored in double figures 15 times on the year.

• Jahlil Okafor has the highest field goal percentage (.668) in the NCAA among players attempting seven or more shots per game. Okafor has shot over 70 percent from the field in nine of Duke’s 16 games.

• A freshman has led the Blue Devils in scoring in 12 of 16 games. Jahlil Okafor has paced the offensive attack eight times, while Tyus Jones and Justise Winslow have each led Duke in scoring two times. The rookie trio has also accounted for 10 of Duke’s 11 20-point games on the year (Okafor 7, Jones 2, Winslow 1).

• Quinn Cook has made at least one three-point field goal in each of the past 26 games. He is shooting 41.4 percent (65-of-157) from behind the arc in that stretch. Cook is third in the ACC in three-point field goals (2.7 3pg.) and sixth in three-point percentage (.406) this season.

• Duke has outrebounded its opponent in 15 of 16 games on the year and owns a +8.0 rebound margin. Michigan State is the only team to outrebound the Blue Devils this season.

• Jahlil Okafor (66) and Amile Jefferson (50) have combined for 116 of Duke’s 201 offensive rebounds. Okafor leads the ACC lead with 4.13 orpg., while Jefferson ranks seventh at 3.13 orpg. The tandem combined for 14 offensive rebounds in Tuesday’s loss to Miami.

• Rasheed Sulaimon has scored in double figures in all four ACC games. He is averaging 11.5 points, while shooting 44.4 percent (8-of-18) from three-point range in league play.

• Jahlil Okafor has scored in double figures in 16 straight games, the fourth-longest double digit scoring streak by a freshman at Duke. Johnny Dawkins holds the top mark after scoring 10 or more points in the first 23 games of his career.

• Duke has allowed 10 made three-point field goals in each of the past two games. The Blue Devils allowed just 4.1 made three-point field goals over the first 14 games of the season.

• Jahlil Okafor has recorded a double-double in each of the past three games. He is averaging 16.7 points and 12.7 rebounds per game in that span.

• Duke is shooting 40.5 percent (53-of-131) from the field, including 27.1 percent (13-of-48) from three-point range over the past two games. In comparison, the Blue Devils shot 51.8 percent (413-of-777) from the field and 38.9 percent (109-of-280) from behind the arc over the first 14 games of the season.
