Duke Rolls In Exhibition Opener

Duke came out firing and riding the play of RJ Barrett who score 19 points in the first half to give the Blue Devils 52-36 lead at the break. Barrett would end the game with 23 points 4 assists and 3 steals and Duke would go on to a 106-64 victory.

Zion Williamson led all scorers with 29 points including several of his crowd-rousing dunks.  He also added 4 assists and 6 rebounds to his totals.

Duke got terrific play from Tre Jones as well who quarterbacked the team, dishing out 9 assists.  Jones, teammate and close friend, Cam Reddish also had 9 assists to go with 13 points and 5 rebounds.  Reddish has been playing with gimpy ribs and his toughness earned the praise of his coach Mike Krzyzewski after the game.

The Blue Devils also moved further along in developing their bench where Alex O'Connell, Jack White added 21 points between them.  Marques Bolden started and had 6 points and 6 rebounds.

Duke scored 30 points off turnovers where they played almost exclusively man to man defense.  The Blue Devils came up with 10 steals as well and 6 blocked shots against a less talented, but game, Panthers team.

The Blue Devils scored 52 points in the paint holding their opponent to 28.  Duke also forced 23 turnovers in the game with their length,

I will break down the game with a more through analogy on Wednesday.  Mike Krzyzewski will head up to media day in Charlotte tomorrow morning., while Jack White and Javin DeLaurier are on their way this late evening.
