DURHAM - The Duke Blue Devils throttled the N.C. State Wolfpack 76-52 and in the process pushed their league lead ACC record to 8-1 and overall record to 21-2. Once again, Duke was led in scoring by Nolan Smith who dropped 20 points to go with 7 assists and 6 rebounds. But looking at Smith stats is similar to looking at the Blue Devils as a team.
Smith scored just 2 points in the second half after having 18 at the break. Duke rolled out to a 53-24 half time lead only to come out in the second half shooting 19.4% from the field and being outscored 28-23. Whether Duke lost their concentration or not, they still had what equated to a walk in the park against the Wolfpack.
Duke rolled out to an early lead behind Mason Plumlee who ent 5 of 5 from the field including a couple of monster dunks. Plumlee eneded the game with 16 points, 12 rebpounds and 3 blocked shots earning him praise from Krzyzewski."Mason led us with his strengths this last month, being a rebounder, runner and shot blocker. He's helped us tremendously with that."
Kyle Singler was close to a double-double with 14 points and 9 rebounds while Seth Curry also finished in double. Duke score 20 points off Wolfpack turnovers and held a 16-5 edge on fast break points.
We'll have more on the game in the A.M.
