The Opening Tip
• Duke enters the ACC Tournament with a 28-3 record overall, including a 15-3 mark in ACC play. The Blue Devils claimed the No. 2 seed to earn a double-bye into the ACC Tournament Quarterfinals.
• Duke’s 28-3 record is tied for the fifth-best mark through 31 games in program history. Duke was also 28-3 in 2001-02 and 2005-06.
• The Blue Devils enter the game ranked No. 2 in both the AP Poll and USA Today Coaches Poll. Duke is 120-19 overall when ranked No. 2 in the AP Poll.
• The Blue Devils are ranked No. 3 in the latest Ratings Percentage Index with a 10-2 mark against teams rated in the top 50. Duke has road wins over four teams in the top 25 (Wisconsin, Louisville, Virginia, North Carolina) and is No. 1 in the NCAA in road/neutral site RPI.
• Duke has won 11 straight games, the program’s fifth double-digit win streak this decade. Seven of the Blue Devils’ wins during the streak have been by 10 points or less.
Last Time Out
• Duke wrapped up the regular season with an 84-77 win at No. 19 North Carolina Saturday as Tyus Jones and Quinn Cook combined for 44 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists.
• Jones scored a game-high 24 points to go along with six rebounds, seven assists and three steals. He netted 17 second-half points and set a Duke freshman record with a 12-of-12 performance from the foul line in the win.
• Cook knocked down four three-point field goals and finished with 20 points for his sixth 20-point game of the season.
• Jahlil Okafor added 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting, while Justise Winslow tallied 13 points despite being saddled with foul trouble throughout the second half.
• After shooting just 33.3 percent (10-of-30) in the first half, Duke responded to go 17-of-29 (.586) from the field over the final 20 minutes of action.
• Duke trailed 49-42 with 14:40 remaining in the game before seizing control with a 14-2 run over the next 3:20 to take a 56-51 lead.
By the numbers
• Jahlil Okafor was named ACC Player of the Year, becoming the first freshman in league history to claim the honor and just the ninth freshman out of a major conference (ACC, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac 12, SEC) to earn player of the year accolades.
• Jahlil Okafor leads the Blue Devils and ranks among the top five in the ACC in scoring (17.6 ppg.), rebounds (9.2 rpg.) and field goal percentage (.668). He is attempting to become the first freshman to lead Duke in all three categories.
• Quinn Cook is averaging a career-high 16.0 points per game while also posting career bests in field goal percentage (.458), three-point percentage (.404), three-point field goals (2.84 3pg.) and free throw percentage (.885).
• Duke is the only team in the NCAA with three freshmen averaging double figures in scoring. Jahlil Okafor (17.6 ppg.), Justise Winslow (12.4 ppg.) and Tyus Jones (11.8 ppg.) combine for 41.8 points per game (51.4 percent of Duke scoring). All three players are Wayman Tisdale National Freshman of the Year finalists.
• A freshman has led the Blue Devils in scoring in 23 of 31 games. Jahlil Okafor has paced the offensive attack 12 times, while Tyus Jones (7), Justise Winslow (3) and Grayson Allen (1) have also led Duke in scoring. The rookie class has also accounted for 21 of Duke’s 27 20-point games on the year (Okafor 11, Jones 6, Winslow 3, Allen 1).
• Quinn Cook has made at least one three-point field goal in each of the past 41 games, tied for the seventh-longest streak in ACC history. He is shooting 40.9 percent (110-of-269) from behind the arc in that stretch. Cook leads the ACC with 88 three-point field goals and has made two or more threes in a game 25 times this season.
• Duke’s starting backcourt of Quinn Cook and Tyus Jones has combined to shoot 88.3 percent (197-of-223) from the free throw line. The remaining six players in the Duke rotation are 280-of-465 (.602) from the charity stripe.
• Justise Winslow has scored in double figures in each of the past 12 games and is averaging 15.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game while shooting 55.2 percent (69-of-125) from the field, including 50.0 percent (15-of-30) from three-point range, in that span.
• Quinn Cook is averaging 18.9 points per game with five 20-point efforts during Duke’s current 11-game win streak.
• Jahlil Okafor leads the ACC and ranks second nationally with a .668 field goal percentage (221-of-331). He has shot 70 percent or better from the field 18 times on the year.
• Tyus Jones leads the Blue Devils in assists (177) and steals (47). Tommy Amaker (1984), Bobby Hurley (1990) and Jason Williams (2000) are the only Blue Devils to lead the team in both categories as freshmen.
• Duke leads the ACC and ranks third nationally in scoring at 81.3 points per game. The Blue Devils are looking to pace the conference in scoring in back-to-back years for the first time since finishing atop the league scoring charts from 1997-2003.
• Duke is playing its 285th consecutive game as a ranked team in the AP Poll. The Blue Devils are 236-48 (.831) in that span.
• The Blue Devils have shot 50 percent or better from the field 15 times on the year. The Blue Devils are 15-0 in those contests and 488-31 under Mike Krzyzewski when shooting 50 percent or better from the floor.
