Jon Scheyer talked of social media groups, such as Twitter and Facebook, his parents' support and thoughts on playing for Coach K in Part 1 of a recent one-on-one interview with the senior [private] co-captain.
Greensboro, N.C. - You will be hearing a lot more on rules changes in the coming week, especially a new one which doesn't allow a defensive player to stand in an imaginary box. Yes, an imaginary box. In short, a defender cannot stand just below the basket and if he does in an attempt to take a charge it is a foul. We'll talk more about these rules in the coming week, but for now who better to hear from about this than Coach Mike Krzyzewski. BDN made it a point to ask the Duke coaches opinion on this rule in our audio interview part 2.
Greensboro, N.C. - It's been an incredibly busy time for Duke Athletics and yesterday the hoops season officially kicked off during ACC Operation Basketball. BDN was on hand and we secured several audio clips which we will start to churn out. Coach Krzyzewski was very forthcoming on any subjects. We have tweaked the audio to a level which we feel certain is better than before with concern to volume. So sit back, hit play and enjoy - (It's also worth noting that TV media was not involved, so everything you hear is different than what most outlets have, meaning it's fresh)
Greensboro, N.C. - The Blue Devil Nation was on hand for today's ACC Operation Basketball and the voting for All ACC and the projected standings were just released.
Duke and UNC tied for first place in the voting. The Blue Devils got the most first place votes at 25, while UNC had 20, but the Heels were picked higher in many ballots which helped them tie Duke for the top spot.
Clemson was picked third, Georgia Tech fourth, Maryland fifth, Wake Forest sixth, Florida State seventh, Virginia Tech eighth, Boston College ninth, Miami tenth, Virginia eleventh and N.C. State at twelth.
Kyle Singler got 19 votes to Grievas Vasquez 15 votes, making the two the leaders in the pre season player of the year honors. Singler was the first Duke player pick player of the year since JJ Redick.
Derrick Favors was tabbed as rookie of the year with UNC's Jon Henson getting a few votes. The All ACC team is Vasquez, Davis, Booker, Singler, Delaney.
Kyle Singler dropped in 21 points on 6 of 7 shooting from the field and 3 of 4 three pointers in tonight's victory over Pfeiffer. Singler pretty much toyed with whoever was guarding him all night. BDN caught up with Kyle Singler after the game and got his thoughts. Join BDN Premium and get full site access. Just hit play -
