Duke Moving Quickly with Hunter Dickinson

Hunter Dickinson in action with one of the top Nike EYBL programs in Team Takeover. The young prospect seems like a good fit with Duke on and off the court. The Blue Devils are moving quickly to make sure he knows of his priority status.

The Duke men's basketball staff is wasting no time with their recruitment of 2020 center Hunter Dickinson.  The Blue Devils recent offer is being followed by an in-home visit where the staff will get to know the key prospect and his family.

Dickinson announced his offer on twitter this past Friday.  The DeMatha Catholic prospect stands 7'2 and weighs in around 250 pounds plays where former Blue Devil Danny Ferry starred in high school.  Another former Duke standout, Quinn Cook played at the program as well before transferring to Oak Hill for his senior season.

The latest Blue Devil offer went out after Walker Kessler elected to go to North Carolina.  Dickinson had been on the Duke radar for some time and now has a chance to develop his skills under Mike Krzyzewski in Durham.

Dickinson played for Team Takeover, an AAU program on the Nike EYBL circuit.  That program has had great success over the years teaching their player how to develop within a team concept.

The Blue Devils are now moving to get Dickison on campus in October or early November at the latest.  Duke looked at several big man prospects when a scholarship became available and came to the conclusion that Dickinson was the best fit.

Duke currently has an offer out to another big man in Mark Williams who is the teammate of committed prospect Jalen Johnson, his teammate at IMG Academy.  Williams is the brother of famed Duke women's standout Elizabeth Williams.

The Blue Devils also have a standing offer to Zaire Williams who is a west coast stud prospect.  Duke needs to sign a large class where they are once again faced with mass losses to the NBA.

The Duke class currently consists of a point guard, in Jeremy Roach and the aforementioned small forward Jalen Johnson, the first two players to pledge their service.  Duke later added talented swing guard DJ Steward and most recently got a pledge from hard-working Henry Coleman, a power forward out of Virginia.

Dickinson holds several offers which include Michigan where he visited earlier this month.  Ten other ACC schools have offered Dickinson who has had multiple suitors.

Should Duke land Dickinson, he would be one of the few big men on the teams' roster.  Duke will lose senior captains Javin DeLaurier and Jack White after the coming season.  And the Blue Devils will also lose freshmen studs Matthew Hurt and Vernon Carey Jr. as early entrants to the NBA draft.

Duke has two staff members in Jon Scheyer and Nolan Smith who can share with the Dickinson family how much similarly sized Brian Zoubek meant to the program.  Those three guys were a part of the 2010 national championship team.

Duke Offers Hunter Dickinson

The Duke Blue Devils have formerly offered 2020 center4-star center Hunter Dickinson.  The DeMatha Catholic product tweeted the latest news just moments ago.  He goes to the same high school where former Blue Devils Quinn Cook and Danny Ferry attended,  More to come.  Join Blue Devil Nation during our one-year special.

Henry Coleman Chooses Duke – Updated

Henry Coleman looks good in a Duke uniform. He is the fourth player to commit to the 2020 class. For more on recruiting, join BDN Premium during our one-year special.

The Duke Blue Devils got a pledge from 2020 power forward Henry Coleman III.  The Richmond, Virginia native made his collegiate choice moments ago at Trinity Episcopal High Scool.

Coleman opened a gift box which contained a Duke cap and placed it on his head.  Some Duke blue balloons on the side may have been a giveaway but his family and friends cheered loudly after his choice.  And for good reason for he is his class's president.

"Duke just felt like home."  The newest Blue Devil commit said he felt he fit in well with his future teammates.  He reiterated, "I talked to Coach K a couple of days before the visit and he said as soon as you get on campus I was going to know it was home."

Coleman stands a good chance of making an immediate impact with Duke which is expected to lose much of their frontcourt.  He is a hard-nosed and hard-working prospect capable of guard either forward spot on the court.

Duke coach Nate James played a vital role as lead assistant.  The Blue Devils gained their fourth commitment in the 2020 class.  Coleman will join recently committed DJ Steward, Jalen Johnson, and Jeremy Roach.

And his commitment brings another big plus.  "Now, I’m turning in to a recruiter for my team and I’m going after Mark Williams!," Coleman said in his USA Today blog.  He continued, "It’s easier for me because we’re actually best friends and we played AAU together for years, and we’ve always played really well together."

Coleman impressed the Duke staff while playing for Team Loaded on the Adidas Gauntlet circuit.  His improved play this past season drew a number of offers and the Blue Devils held off the likes of Virginia Tech, Ohio State and Michigan during the process.

Team Coleman

Interestingly, Nate James and Coleman have a lot in common.  James had the nickname Nate "Dogg," while in Durham and he was always around for a key rebound or basket.  Coleman should develop nicely at Duke with his athleticism and hustle.

Coleman fits in nicely with his future class and gives the Blue Devils a strong body in the paint.

The Blue Devils are far from finished with the Class of 2020.  They will now turn their attention to other key players including a big man back on the radar.  For more on the latest recruiting efforts, join Blue Devil Nation Premium during our one-year special.  We have years of experience and get out to the gyms to see the young men in person.

Duke Basketball Recruiting Update Posted

Who will the next Duke commitment be? More on the recruiting front in our latest in-depth update.

We love doing recruiting updates at Blue Devil Nation but only after we have good information.  Our latest offering is 2304 words of what is going on with 2020 class and how things should play out.  After the exciting commitment from DJ Steward, Duke now has three players for 2020, but the staff is far from finished.

Who will be the next player to commit?  Where does Duke stand with key prospects?  When are they visiting and who else is in play for their services?  I try to answer those questions to clear the picture on the Blue Devils hoops future.

Be sure to take advantage of our one-year special, which is 60 bucks for the year in the link above.  I have been covering Duke since Coach K stepped on campus and that allows Blue Devil Nation to offer a unique perspective on the program which is set to get things underway for the upcoming season.

Note - new members need to also register for the message board and will then receive approval.

DJ Steward is Duke Bound

Duke got their third commitment for the Class of 2020 when DJ Steward announced he is heading to Durham.

Stewart visited the Duke campus this past weekend and has long leaned towards playing for fellow Chicago native, Mike Krzyzewski.

The sleek scoring hybrid guard joins Jalen Johnson Jeremy Roach in a class that is expected to sign several players.  Be sure to join Blue Devil Nation during our 60.00 for one year special and get stright forward information on how recruiting is playing out.

Duke Set to Host DJ Steward

The Duke basketball staff will entertain DJ Steward this weekend for his official visit.  The Blue Devils have been heavily involved with the dual guard since this summer.

Steward is a Chicago native and that, of course, is where head coach Mike Krzyzewski is from.  The Blue Devils staff flew up to visit the star guard earlier this week.

Steward hoops for Whitney Young High School which produced Duke alum Jahlil Okafor.

It is no secret that Steward has been a focus of the Blue Devils staff and they are now moving quickly to state their case.  This will be the Stewart's family first visit to campus.

Steward most recently visited Texas and many have said Louisville has been all-in on him of late.  Both Duke and Louisville visited Chicago this week, but the Blue Devils have moved fast to get him on campus and show him how they envision his use should he become a part of the brotherhood.

Duke continues it's busy September and most recently hosted Henry Coleman and Walker Kessler as they try to round out their class.  The Blue Devils will also host Mark Williams soon as they zero in on their prospects of choice.
